What is a sleep study, and why might I need one?
A sleep study is a non-invasive test that monitors your sleep patterns, breathing, heart rate, and other vital signs while you sleep. It helps diagnose conditions like sleep apnea, insomnia, and narcolepsy.
What types of sleep studies do you offer?
We offer both in-lab sleep studies and home sleep apnea tests. Depending on your symptoms and medical history, our team will recommend the best option for accurate diagnosis.
Is the sleep study painful or uncomfortable?
Not at all. Sleep studies are completely non-invasive. You may feel a little awkward at first with sensors placed on your body, but most patients fall asleep normally within a short time.
How should I prepare for a sleep study?
Avoid caffeine and alcohol on the day of the test, and try to stick to your normal sleep routine. Bring comfortable clothes, and if you’re doing an in-lab study, bring items that help you relax.
How long does a sleep study take?
Most sleep studies are conducted overnight and typically last between 6–8 hours. If you're doing a daytime study, it may involve several short nap periods spaced throughout the day.
Will insurance cover my sleep study?
Most insurance plans, including Medicare, cover sleep studies if they’re medically necessary. Our staff can help verify your coverage and walk you through any out-of-pocket costs.
When will I get my results?
Results are typically available within 5 to 7 business days. A board-certified sleep specialist will review your data and provide a full report with recommendations for treatment, if needed.
